We will be coming to Branson the last week in July. What is the best day to go to SDC and what time of day. This is our first visit. We are not really interested in rides because we have a handicapped 12 year old son. Are interested in shows, looking around and food.

From my experience, I think anyday during the week would be good, and I would get there around 10:00 a.m. Most early arrivers have gone through the gate by this time and there shouldn't be a wait. I'm like you I like the food and the browsing. I'm a real people watcher, so I like just sitting around watching. Hope you guys have a great time.

This time of the year I like getting there either early when they open (while it's coole) or being there late a little before closing (shorter ride lines).

might check out the sdc web site and look at the show schedules, seems like some of the shows take turns during the week and take a day off, might make a difference what day you want to be there. www.silverdollarcity.com

During this time of year I wouldn't think there would be a huge difference from one day to another, although I think Saturday might be a tad busier. I am with missmary.... I would go earlier in the morning. Around lunch time - 3 or so the park gets pretty crowded. Be sure to get in line for the shows early, as they fill up quickly... especially the Saloon show... which is worth seeing! It is really funny this year. By early... I mean.. maybe even 45 minutes early sometimes, but don't let that scare you. We always find someone in line to chat with and help the time pass quickly. The train ride is another good one to get in line for if you have never been on it. And definitely! For the Glory! It is an awesome show! Have a great trip!

I do remember going on Sunday a couple of years ago, crowds weren't to bad, but the Echo Hollow evening show was closed on Sunday's.

If your schedule allows, I would try to go to SDC early in the week - we prefer to go M-Th, as the crowds do seem to be heavier F,S & Sunday.

I don't often reply on this subject, but I know all of my friends and family that live around here go on the weekend, so I think it would be lighter during the week.
Please share about the shops you check out as it as been years since I have been there, and I am sure there are many changes.
It seems when my family comes home all I hear about are the rides.

Grands - You really need to go back to SDC - they have motorized w/c all available for $10 (I think) at the gate, and many folks use the throughout the park - you'd be amazed at all the changes in the past few years!

Grands,
I agree that you really need to try SDC again. To us Silver Dollar City IS Branson! While the rides are fun, we have 'bigger and better' theme parks a lot closer to our home. SDC is about the shows, food, shopping, crafts, and whole atmosphere. No other 'theme park' even comes close to what SDC is all about. I am lucky to have a healthy family of four that does not have to worry about any special needs. However I think a trip, if at all possible, would be enjoyed by anyone.

if not going for the rides, give the christmas season at sdc a try, lot of the rides are closed anyway, but the shows are still going and the christmas lights are impossible to describe.. you have to see them in person.

Christmas is indeed a great time to go, however, it is VERY crowded every day during the christmas season. And i agree. Grands, you need to go back to SDC. They have made alot of great changes over the past couple of years!!!

Silver Dollar City is a great place without the rides. I would check there website and see what festival is going on when you are going and they have special things. We love Christmas there to . There childrens festival is really neat to with special shows and such. But boy those hills pushing a wheelchair can be a killer.

I wouldnt' want to push anyone in a wheelchair up those hills, OR be in the w/c while someone was 'pushing' me down them - that's why I suggested Grands get a motorized cart - she could see it all, without being pushed.

Silver Dollar City has some of the best shows around! Someone already suggested For the Glory and the saloon show. They are wonderful. If you like gospel music, I would suggest the Cumberland Quartet to you. They perform Monday through Friday at different theaters and perform in a Sunday night gospel show in June, July and part of August. Your son might enjoy the Extreme Stunts show. It's guys doing tricks on rollerblades, and differents kinds of bicycles. Hope that helps!!!
