View Full Version : Wildcat at CC mentioned in Family Fun.
I just got my issue of Family Fun and they have an article about roller coasters that mentions CC and WildCat.
I'm not very brave but my others in our group, from my 7 year old niece to my 58 year old dad love it!!

Here's my opinions of the Ozark Wildcat... (btw...I am a card-carrying member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts, with over 100 coasters ridden to date...)
The Ozark Wildcat is a fun, although short, ride. The total ride time is right at a minute and a half. It's top speed is 45mph, almost the same as Thunderation at SDC. But, the feel of this ride is completely different than Thunderation. Thunderation is a steel coaster, and has a very smooth feel compared to the Ozark Wildcat, but the Wildcat is a very smooth ride for a wooden coaster.
My favorite thing about the Ozark Wildcat is that it has a lot of "headchopper" areas...Places where the boards above your head look so low that it seems you will chop your head off. (Don't worry, though, it's just an optical illusion!)
On a scale of 1-10, I'd give the Ozark Wildcat a 7, with most of the points being deducted because of the short length of the ride. I'd put OW in my top 5 wooden coasters. For comparison purposes, Thunderation is a 5 on my scale, and Wildfire is a 9.5. Wildfire is my #3 favorite steel coaster that I've ridden.
As a side note, I think CC needs to keep the "Ozark" in the name of the coaster. It differentiates it from the 30 other Wildcat coasters in the world.

Thanks Tawny for your review. Wow a coaster enthusiast! How cool would that be!?
Jerry & I rode it in June and we weren't overly impressed. I would have to agree that it most resembeles Thunderation. However, it was a little jerky for me. It IS a nice attraction for CC though!
Everyone that goes for the first time should ride it at least once!

We rode the OW, this week! It was a lot of fun!
~BUT~
I was just a little disapointed. It had too many twists and turns, and not enough big drops, which was what I would expect from a wooden coaster.
